The Outreach team - who we are and what we do..............
  Most of the team work for the Outreach Service on a part-time basis, each person has written a few lines about their role.
Nicky - Outreach Project Manager. I am a senior teacher at Thomas Wolsey School and have management responsibility for the Outreach project. I set up and monitor dual placements and aim to ensure that mainstream schools and pre-school providers have the training, equipment, information and educational targets that they require for their dual placement pupils.
Eileen - Advanced Skills Teacher for ICT. I offer assesments to children in mainstream schools who have complex physical needs. These cover the use of computer hardware and software to help children access the curriculum. I also offer software training for staff working with these children.
Vicky - Advisory Teacher. My role is to support pupils who have a dual placement with Thomas Wolsey and a mainstream school. I can offer advice on curriculum issues and training on disability awareness.
Jane - Occupational Therapist. I work with the Outreach Service to support inclusion by offering advice on specialist equipment to assist children to access the curriculum and the school environment.
Cathy - Advanced Skills Teacher for PE. One of my roles is to support the KS2 pupils on dual placement. I also offer advice on creating an inclusive environment for pupils with physical disabilities within a mainstream setting.
Chris - Manual Handling Trainer. I offer Special Needs manual handling advice and training, available for anyone working with young people who have physical difficulties and require assistance with their transfers.
Lindsay - Administration Support. Lindsay provides admin support to the Outreach team one morning a week. She is very shy and doesn't like having her photo taken.
Rob - County Technician for Communication and Access. As well as supporting the rest of the Outreach team, I provide IT technical support, advice and training to staff and pupils in mainstream schools. I also designed and maintain the Outreach website.
Sue - Parent Support Worker. I support parents by organising parenting courses and coffee mornings, and by running a helpline. I also organise awareness days for parents and school staff about specific syndromes and disabilities, and carry out an ongoing programme of disability awareness assemblies in mainstream schools.
Dave - Swimming Instructor. I run swimming sessions at Thomas Wolsey school on a Monday morning. These are for pre-school children with physical disabilities.
Gina - Cocker Spaniel age 10. I am a golden Cocker Spaniel and Rob and his family live in my house. I'm only on the website because I don't like being left out of anything.I generally try to sleep as much of the day as possible but am prone to sudden bouts of enthusiasm when visitors come to the house.
